Summer Place Theatre casting for 50th anniversary productions
Summer Place Theatre is celebrating its first 50 years in Naperville with three shows this year, and is looking for actors, singers and dancers to attend upcoming auditions.
The whole point of community theater is to give local talent an opportunity to shine. Do you sing in choir or in the shower? Dance at clubs or in the family room? Do stand-up or business presentations? Wherever else you use your gifts, there's nothing like being part of community theater.
Auditions for this year's productions are almost here, so interested performers should practice their best 32 bars and put on their dancing shoes.
The first show is "Jesus Christ Superstar" with auditions from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 31, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2. Performances are June 17 to 26.
The second show is "50 Years of Musicals from Summer Place Theatre" with auditions from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, and 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, April 4. Performances are July 8 to 10.
Auditions for "The Music Man," the final show of the season, have not yet been scheduled. Performances will be July 29 to Aug. 7.

If you love theater but aren't a performer, you could be one of Summer Place dedicated volunteers who make the shows happen. There's a niche for you from set-building to promotions and from costuming to concessions. Drop a line about your interest at backstage@summerplacetheatre.org.
