Submitted by Mundelein High School District 120

The staff of Mundelein High School rallied around the needs of one of their own to present a staff talent show Thursday, March 3, in the MHS Auditorium.

The event raised upward of $1,300, which will go directly to #BakerBrave, a fund to support the family of an MHS staff member who has incurred very costly medical expenses.

The show included a number of varied acts and staff members from almost every department in the high school.

"You have all left me speechless! Matt, Avery and I were so happy that we were able to be there tonight witness the unbelievable show," said Maureen Baker, MHS faculty member, whose son, Noah, is dealing with difficult medical issues. "I am so honored to work with the best 'village' there is out there."

"Our performers were amazing, all the behind-the-scenes people were incredible, and what great support from those of you that not only attended but encouraged our students to attend," said Jeff Harding, math instructor and organizer of the event.

"It was absolutely a magical evening. It sure made me proud to be a Mustang."

Acts included a comedy sketch starring business education instructor Larry Calhoun, wellness instructors Justin Hart and Brett Wilhelm, social studies instructor Patrick Gaughan, English/Avid instructor Ernie Billittier and athletic trainer Kate Janoyev; Calhoun singing a country song as "Big Tex"; English instructor Laura Garcia playing the harp; English instructional aid Dan Warren singing and playing guitar; special education instructional aid Lourdes Chapa doing a Tae Kwan Do demonstration with her daughter, Hanna; math instructor Jeff Harding singing as the "Golden Pipes"; English instructors Jennifer Franco and Laura Garcia offering a poem and a song; and business education instructor John Stowers singing and playing the banjo.

Two larger groups also entertained the audience. The #BakerBrave Band, a pep band comprising faculty members Stevee Bellas, Matt Farmer, Samantha Fehrman, Kate Gizella, Leah Kaplan, Randy Lerner, Krysta Penuel, Dean Petros, Tony Skaronea and Catherine White, joined by students Henry Carpender, Finjn Gleber, Jacob Horvat, Alex Heraty, Katie Lambert and Kenny Stepney.

The final act, The Dancing Zorbas, was a Greek Dance. The dancers included Alexander Kapotas, Cory Thompson, Stevee Bellas, Jeff Harding, Melissa Sethna, Kathryn Serby, Laura Giese, Kate Gizella, Sara Sinclair, Carsyn Rodriguez, Kevin Myers, Rob Bever, Martin Panzanin, Heather Ryan, Morgan Spitz and Kate Gizella.

Math department chair Randy Lerner served as master of ceremonies for the event.
