Mom gets 25 years for neglect in death of Greenfield tot

GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) - A central Indiana woman convicted of neglect in the death of her 1-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Court records show 33-year-old Jessica Wagoner of Greenfield also was sentenced March 17 to 12 years of probation. The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1T6vTUu ) it was the maximum sentence Wagoner could receive under the terms of her plea agreement.

Prosecutors say she failed to seek medical care for Zoe Wagoner, who died of blunt-force trauma in May.

The woman's husband, 31-year-old Matthew Wagoner, was sentenced last month to 65 years in prison after being convicted of murder and other charges. Experts testified during his trial that the child's liver was lacerated and she likely would have been in extreme pain for hours before her death.
