Georgia DE Ledbetter suspended for 1 game following arrest

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia sophomore defensive end Jonathan Ledbetter is facing a one-game suspension following his arrest early Sunday on misdemeanor alcohol charges.

Coach Kirby Smart says Ledbetter apologized to the team before taking part in Tuesday's practice. Smart says Ledbetter also faces internal discipline following the arrest on charges of underage possession of alcohol and possession of a false ID.

Athens-Clarke County police records show Ledbetter was released on $3,000 bond at 4:13 a.m. on Sunday, about one hour after he was booked.

Smart said after Tuesday's practice Ledbetter "made a huge mistake" and embarrassed himself, his family and his team.

Ledbetter, who played in seven games as a backup in 2015, will miss the Bulldogs' Sept. 3 opener against North Carolina in the Georgia Dome.
