Indiana mayor's wife filling in during monthlong absence
WOODBURN, Ind. (AP) - The wife of the mayor of a small northeastern Indiana city will fill in for him while he's gone for a month of National Guard training.
Woodburn Mayor Joe Kelsey will head to Mississippi during April for the training program. He took office in January after being elected to lead the 1,500-person city about 10 miles east of Fort Wayne.
Kelsey tells WANE-TV (http://bit.ly/1LBMvlj ) he has the utmost confidence in his wife, Monica Kelsey, overseeing the mayor's office in his absence since they've run a shipping-and-moving business together.
City Councilman Dean Gerig also says he believes Monica Kelsey will do fine filling in for her husband and that he'll do what he can to help her.
