Jury finds 2 charged in Evansville marina fire not guilty

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Two people charged in an Evansville marina fire that capsized four boats and caused $4.5 million in damage have been found not guilty.

The Evansville Courier & Press (http://bit.ly/22tgobw ) reports 57-year-old William Marver and 49-year-old Brenda Harris were found not guilty by a jury Friday. They were each charged with conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to commit arson for hire, and arson with intent to defraud.

Investigators have said the February 2015 fire damaged the marina dock and five boats. Marver and Harris, who are longtime friends, were accused of burning Marver's houseboat for insurance money.

Competing theories about the fire's cause were put forth by the two sides during the trial.
