Kelly Fitzgerald Photography at Leela Arts Center

Between March 26th and May 14th, the Leela Arts Center, 620 Lee Street, in Des Plaines will feature the photography of Kelly Fitzgerald. She was born and raised in town, graduated from Columbia in 2005, and now is raising her own children in Des Plaines. Kelly is a current member of the Des Plaines Art Guild (dpag.org)

Kelly's photographic body of work, which you may find in the lobby area at Leela, was created in early 2000 and shows buildings and places in Des Plaines using a large format view camera over the course of three months. Sixteen years later, some of the buildings in the images no longer exist. The display shows black and white prints, developed from 4x5 sheet film. Kelly is now inspired to document Des Plaines again. Currently, she is working on a project photographing families that choose to live in Des Plaines and why they love it. This work can be followed at https://www.facebook.com/ourcityofdestiny and on instagram @ourcityofdestiny. On a regular basis, she takes newborn and family portraits and does documentary sessions, which can be viewed at kellyfitzgeraldstudio.com.
