Adams County voters will get chance to cast late ballots
QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A judged ruled that residents in western Illinois' Adams County who were unable to vote in the primaries because there weren't enough ballots should get the chance to vote next week.
An Adams County Judge Chet Vahle issued the order Thursday, saying it was the only recourse for voters who couldn't cast ballots in Tuesday's elections. The Quincy Herald-Whig reports (http://goo.gl/QQsD9v ) late voting will be allowed at the Adams County courthouse from March 21 to March 25.
To cast a late ballot, people need to sign an affidavit swearing under oath that they were unable to vote. The county's state's attorney says there are safeguards in place to prevent fraud.
Adams was among a handful of counties that ran out of ballots and had to print more because of high turnout.
