Cary-Grove 6, Schaumburg 1: Daniel Schmidt and Ben Dolezal combined on a 5-hitter to lead the Trojans (2-0) to a nonconference win. Schmidt picked up the win, allowing 2 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk in 4 innings. Tyler Pennington and Mark Smith had 2 hits each for C-G.

Montini 13, Westminster Christian 3: Ian Merlak had a triple and 2 RBI and Theron Dorsey a double for Westminster (0-2) in this nonconference loss. Nathan Martinez took the loss on the hill for the Warriors.

Huntley 6, Rockford Auburn 0: Adam Smylie went 4 innings and allowed just 2 hits while Max Orput went 3-for-3 to lead the Red Raiders to a nonconference win. Charlie Nugent, Joe Boland (2B) and Alec Coss each had RBI for Huntley (1-0).

Dundee-Crown 5, Buffalo Grove 0: Danny Denz had a double and struck out 7 in 3 innings of work to earn the win as the Chargers (1-0) opened the season with a nonconference win. Patrick Harvey also doubled for D-C and Matt Weichmann had 2 RBI.

Elgin Academy 20, IMSA 1: Ian Wilson was 3-for-4 with a home run and Carl Rauschenberger had 2 doubles to lead the Hilltoppers (3-0) to a nonconference win. Jordan Hare allowed 3 hits to pick up the win on the mound.
