Stevenson High student wins writing prize

Stevenson High School junior Katherine Liu has named a 2016 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Medal winner, the Lincolnshire school announced. Liu, co-president of the school's Write Club, received the American Voices Medal for a personal essay, titled "Distance." Liu joins a legacy of celebrated authors and artists who have received National Medals, including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote and Robert Redford. A ceremony is planned for June in New York City.
