Police: Carpenterville man fired gun 5 times
A 40-year-old Carpentersville man has been charged with firing his shotgun five times into the air Wednesday night, according to police and court records. No one was hurt.
Adolfo Guzman Jr., of the 2000 block of Berkshire Circle, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, a felony, and possession of a firearm with out a valid Firearm Owners Identification card, according to Kane County court records.
Authorities were called to his home about 9:05 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots being fired, Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Timothy Bosshart said.
"(Officers) found a total of five shell casings (outside Guzman's townhouse), which matched with the caller saying she heard five shots," said Bosshart, who added Guzman may have been intoxicated and the shooting was not gang-related. "We have no reports of anything that got hit."
Authorities seized a shotgun from Guzman's home and he was arrested, Bosshart said.
Guzman is next due in court April 8 and faces up to three years in prison if convicted of the most severe charge. Probation also is an option. His bond amount was not immediately available.
He does not have any previous criminal arrests in Kane County, records show.
