Boy found unharmed, Elgin police say

Elgin police said a boy they were looking for was found unharmed Thursday.

A resident had reported that at about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday he saw a Hispanic teen boy riding a bicycle on the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue when a car pulled up. Several Hispanic males jumped out, approached the teenager, punched him and knocked him off his bike, Cmdr. Dan O'Shea said.

The males then put the victim in their car and drove off, leaving the bicycle, the witness said. The vehicle was described as a small passenger car with a loud muffler.

Police have determined no criminal activity took place, O'Shea said.
