Bartlett receives state recognition for 125th anniversary

In celebration of the Bartlett's 125-year anniversary, Illinois Sen. Tom Cullerton, a Villa Park Democrat, presented the village with a state resolution this week celebrating the milestone.

"You have a great community," Cullerton told Bartlett officials at the village board meeting Tuesday night.

Cullerton said Bartlett's population surge from 3,500 in 1970 to over 41,000 today is "impressive."

"It's a true testament to this board and to staff and for the people who live here," he said. "Now with the tremendous business park and your expansion ... it's going to continue to be a great place to live."

Bartlett plans to celebrate the anniversary throughout the year, including at the village's Fourth of July celebration. The anniversary also will be the theme of this year's Heritage Days celebration.

"It fits right into Heritage Days," Heritage Days Chairwoman Jan Suffern said. "We'll celebrate the fall and summer and our Bartlett heritage."
