Shatner to headline Smithsonian Magazine's future festival

WASHINGTON (AP) - William Shatner will headline Smithsonian magazine's The Future Is Here Festival.

The magazine announced Thursday that the fourth annual festival celebrating advanced thinking in science, technology, art and engineering will be held April 22 to 24 at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington.

The festival opens with an event with Shatner, X-Files creator Chris Carter and cast members from the Syfy series "12 Monkeys."

On Saturday and Sunday, the festival will a series of speakers, including explorers Celine and Alexandra Cousteau and Google Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist Vint Cerf, who's known as one of the fathers of the Internet. There will be performances by Tesla coil band Arc Attack and cyber illusionist Marco Tempest.

Free tickets for the Saturday and Sunday speaker events are available online.
