Forest Preserve Executive to Speak at Lake Zurich Rotary Friday
Synder's talk, "The Value of the Forest Preserves" will trace how Lake County residents came to have 30,700 acres of open space to enjoy. The Forest Preserves also manages 202 miles of multi-use trails, fishing ponds and lakes, public access to the Fox River and Lake Michigan, four public golf courses, and award winning educational, recreational and cultural opportunities for all ages. Each year more than 3.5 million enjoy the preserves or benefit from programs, even after eight years of declining public funds.
Synder, who works to attract private, non-profit and corporate funds to the Forest Preserves, has worked for the county since 2012. She has also worked for the Nature Conservancy and the Chicago Botanical Gardens. Forest Preserve board member and County Board member Craig Taylor is a Lake Zurich Rotary Club member.
