Wind dies down, stormy weather continues
After a windy afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms were expected to move through the area overnight.
A wind advisory from the National Weather Service expired around 8 p.m., but a special weather statement said that thunderstorms with occasional lightning and pea-sized hail could be expected throughout the evening.
The service said the strongest storms would likely be near the I-88 corridor.
Wednesday afternoon's wind, sometimes gusting up to 55 mph, caused some downed power lines, power outages and damage across the suburbs from downed trees and other debris.
