Clinton squeaks past Sanders
Park Ridge native Hillary Clinton's campaign was dealt a bit of a psychological blow yesterday as her projected victory over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders came down to the wire in her home state. With more than 97 percent of precincts reporting early this morning, unofficial tallies showed Clinton leading Sanders with 50 percent of the vote to Sanders' 49 percent. Full story.
Kirk and Duckworth win, go on offense
Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk and Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth claimed victory in last night's primary and jumped into a tough U.S. Senate race swinging. Duckworth, of Hoffman Estates, defeated Chicagoans state Sen. Napoleon Harris and former Chicago Urban League CEO Andrea Zopp. Kirk, of Highland Park, received 71 percent of the vote compared to Republican rival James Marter with 29 percent. Full story.
Krishnamoorthi claims victory in 8th Congressional District
Raja Krishnamoorthi claimed victory in the 8th Congressional District Democratic primary last night with just over half of the precincts counted. State Sen. Michael Noland of Elgin conceded the victory to Krishnamoorthi, with Villa Park Mayor Deb Bullwinkel finishing third. Full story.
Schneider declares victory in 10th Congressional District
Former U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider declared victory over Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering late last night in the race to face Republican incumbent Robert Dold this fall in the 10th congressional District. But Rotering wouldn't concede, saying she was waiting for early-voting results. Full story.

The contest for the Republican party nomination was down to the wire in the U.S. 11th Congressional District race, with DuPage County Board member Tonia Khouri and cardiologist Nick Stella of Darien both gathering about 37 percent of the vote. Full story.

Elgin woman accused of robbing gas station
An Elgin woman with purple hair was charged with aggravated robbery after she took money from a gas station early Tuesday morning, police say. Elgin police were called just before 3 a.m. to the McDonald's/BP gas station on the 800 block of St. Charles Road, where a clerk told them a woman came into the store with her hand in her pocket, implying she had a gun, Elgin police said in a news release. St. Charles N. student hurt after falling from car
A St. Charles North High School student was seriously injured after apparently falling from the back of a moving vehicle, police said yesterday. St. Charles police and fire were called just before 5 p.m. Saturday to the 4100 block of Royal Fox Drive for an accident involving injures, police said in a news release. Full story.
