Sixth annual Mooseheart Easter egg hunt returns Saturday
The numbers associated with Mooseheart's Easter egg hunt are staggering, never change much, and are sure to be repeated when the event takes place Saturday, March 19. The football field is packed by the 11 a.m. start time, and five minutes later, the field is cleared of thousands of plastic eggs and other goodies, and families are headed to the field house, petting zoo and other activities.
"The Easter egg hunt is something we're proud to offer to the surrounding communities around Mooseheart," Mooseheart Executive Director Gary Urwiler said. "We enjoy bringing people to Mooseheart to show them what we do and I'm confident families are marking their calendars and looking forward to it again."
This is the sixth annual Easter egg hunt at Mooseheart, an event that annually attracts 4,000 children and their families, and extends far beyond just the few minutes of egg collection. Gates open at 10 a.m. before the 11 a.m. egg hunt, and activities continue until 1 p.m. Children age 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 will collect eggs in separate areas of the football field.
Activities after the egg hunt include face painting, crafts and a bounce house inside the school's field house, which is adjacent to the stadium. A petting zoo and pony rides will be held just south of the football field. A free hot dog lunch also will be served for egg hunters and their families in the field house. The Easter bunny will pose for photos with children and families.
"We try to make it more of 'family time,' another of those family traditions," Urwiler said. "It warms our hearts to see families here for the face painting, the craft tables or the bounce houses, or even riding the ponies and seeing the animals in the petting zoo."
