Chicago's war on the First Amendment

Once again, Chicago grabbed national headlines for the wrong reason. We watched chaos prevail at a UIC Trump rally as anti-Trump protesters successfully shut down the Trump rally, killing freedom of speech through the threat of violent anarchy.

While I am certainly no Trump fan, I will defend his right to a political rally with my life. For those of you that flunked your high school civics courses, Freedom of Speech is in the First Amendment of our Constitution and it is a core value of our nation and of freedom.

Of course, "Chiraq" leads the nation on many fronts of chaos as the murder capital of America, the most corrupt city in America, a city at the brink of bankruptcy, and a city with total school chaos.

Tragically, this attack on free speech is becoming a national epidemic as schools and colleges kill free speech and set up bizarre "safe zones" in which students are not allowed to hear differing points of view that conflict with the politically correct "herd" mentality.

Sadly, I think this chaos and violence at UIC is a warning whistle to the rest of America. We have loons on the left and loons on the right that are attacking the core values of this great nation.

This election will be a critical test to see if a majority of Americans still support free speech and are willing to defend it. As Edmond Burk said, "All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
