See 'Hayloft Gang' documentary at Elgin museum

Stephen Perry, producer of the 2011 documentary "The Hayloft Gang," will bring to life the Chicago-based National Barn Dance radio program at the Elgin Area Historical Society at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at the Old Main, 360 Park St.

The radio program, which was started on WLS in 1924, was a touchstone for many growing up till its end in 1960.

The program used nostalgia, even in 1924, reminding folks of "our farm communities of yesteryear."

The cast became familiar friends nicknamed the "Hayloft Gang."
