Submitted by Lake Forest Civic Orchestra
The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra will perform music by great British composers at its upcoming concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, in the Gorton Community Center's John Hughes auditorium, at 400 E. Illinois Road Lake Forest.
The LFCO will perform "Enigma Variations" by Edward Elgar, "In a Summer Garden" by Frederick Delius, "Tune from County Derry ('Danny Boy')" by Percy Grainger, and "Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten" by Arvo Part. To buy tickets online, visit www.lakeforestcivicorchestra.org.
The March 20 concert marks Music Director Robert Nordling's third appearance as LFCO music director. He was selected last year to lead the orchestra after a yearlong search.
The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra is a member-funded and donor-supported community orchestra dedicated to performing high quality orchestral repertoire on the North Shore. The full-size orchestra, consisting of dedicated volunteer musicians under the guidance of a professional music director, is formed of members of the local community, for the benefit of the local community. In addition to their orchestral concert series at the Gorton Community Center, the LFCO also:
• Offers scholarship programs for young musicians.
• Provides chamber performances at senior centers and other community venues.
• Partners actively with other local musical groups who share the belief that everyone benefits from playing and hearing the wonders of classical music.
