Elgin Chamber CEO Unplugged Series to feature Dr. Courtney Coke

How does a leading radiation oncologist manage compassionate care to patients for the treatment of cancer? How has his wide global experience from Canada, Europe and Africa affected his expertise? What are the challenges and hope ahead, if any, in cancer care?

Find out how Dr. Courtney Coke defines his leadership style by attending the next Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce popular series, "CEO Unplugged," sponsored by the Grand Victoria Casino. The luncheon will be held Wednesday, April 6, in the Fox River Room at the Grand Victoria Casino pavilion, 250 S. Grove Ave., second floor in Elgin. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with buffet luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Questions and networking to follow. The "CEO Unplugged" luncheon offers an opportunity to learn what made this CEO successful and how to adapt his leadership tips into your own business. The format includes an informal interview with this health care leader ranging from risks he has taken to what keeps him up at night, and more. It is followed by a quick fire-round of questions and a chance to ask Dr. Coke questions! Guests will walk away with tidbits of advice from Dr. Coke to implement in your own business right away.

Dr. Courtney Coke is a radiation oncologist in Elgin and affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Presence St. Joseph Hospital-Elgin where he is the medical director of the Bob & Edna Meadows Regional Cancer Care Center.

Dr. Coke received his graduate degree from University of Chicago and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, followed by an internship at Montreal General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. He completed his residency at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec and served as a Fellow in the neuro oncology and stereotactic radiosurgery program in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Additionally, his training includes Brain Laboratory training in Munich, Germany and Gamma Knife training in Stockholm, Sweden.

He is board certified in therapeutic radiology and has served as a volunteer clinical assistant for Operation Crossroads Africa in Sierra Leone, Africa.

The next "CEO Unplugged" luncheon will be held on Wednesday, June 1, with Elgin Police Chief Jeff Svoboda.
