Fort Wayne approves adding floating dock to downtown park

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A park in downtown Fort Wayne is getting a floating dock for the St. Marys River.

The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1YHqYJN ) that the Fort Wayne Board of Park Commissioners has approved spending $32,688 for the dock at Headwaters park.

Parks department spokeswoman Natalie Eggeman says the dock will be 80 feet long and 6 feet wide.

Headwaters Park Alliance executive director Geoff Paddock says the dock should bring more activity to the area and will increase the casual use of the 22-acre park.

The parks department believes the dock will be ready for use in May.
