Fremd gets MSL West win at Barrington

Fremd's boys water polo team got off to a winning start in Mid-Suburban West play on Monday by topping defending MSL champ Barrington 11-10.

Robert De Pau and Dylan Assmann paced the Vikes with 4 goals apiece, and Alex Nicholas had 2.

Fremd improved to 3-2 overall, while Barrington slipped to 4-2.

• Mihir Patel (5 goals) and Braden Lamore (3) paced Conant in a 13-5 victory over Schaumburg, and Cougars goalie Harris Dibek blocked a pair of penalty shots. Conant improved to 2-3 and 1-0 in the MSL West; Schaumburg is 1-4 and 0-1.

• After allowing Hersey a pair of first-period goals in MSL East play, Buffalo Grove (2-1, 1-0) shut out the host Huskies the rest of the say.

• St. Ignatius won an MCAC battle against St. Viator 12-3 despite goals from the Lions' Stephen Battin, Matt Frank and Dante Cerone.

• Defending MSL East champ Wheeling got off to a winning start in the division with an 18-5 victory over Elk Grove.
