Olave's header in 86th minute lifts RSL over Sounders
SANDY, Utah (AP) - Jamison Olave scored on a header in the 86th minute to lift Real Salt Lake over the Seattle Sounders 2-1 for its first win of the MLS season, while Montreal and Sporting Kansas City stayed perfect with home victories on Saturday.
Real Salt Lake trailed to Seattle after Osvaldo Alonso opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Joevin Jones crossed it into the box, Nelson Valdez forced a lunging save with a glancing touch and Nick Rimando's punch out fell to Alonso at the far post.
Sunny tied it in the 43rd after heading in Joao Plata's corner kick. Sunny separated from his defender, Clint Dempsey, and found the upper right corner of the goal.
Olave out-jumped goalkeeper Tyler Miller for the game-winner. Joao Plata sent a free kick wide of the goal, Juan Manuel Martinez tracked it down at the baseline and one-touched a cross in front of goal to find Olave's head.
Ignacio Piatti scored his third goal of the season to help the Montreal Impact beat the New York Red Bulls 3-0 in its home opener at Olympic Stadium.
Dominic Oduro opened the scoring for Montreal in the 58th minute. Piatti scored in the 71st, and Anthony Jackson-Hamel added a goal in stoppage time to maintain Montreal's perfect start to the season.
Dominic Dwyer scored two first-half goals and Sporting Kansas City beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 for their second consecutive win to open the season.
Dwyer scored in the fifth minute, and Sporting KC made it 2-0 when Chance Myers crossed to Dwyer, who fired his shot to the far post in the 41st minute, with goalkeeper David Oustedin unable to get a hand on it.
Pedro Morales scored off a penalty kick in the 70th minute for the Whitecaps.
Marco Pappa scored in the 95th and final minute to give the Colorado Rapids a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Colorado's Kevin Doyle sent a high-arching chip pass into the area and Galaxy defender Daniel Steres attempted the clear it away. But Steres' header went errantly to the left side of the box and Pappa picked it clean with a left-footed volley that glanced under the crossbar
Andrew Wenger had a goal and two assists in the first half and the Houston Dynamo routed FC Dallas 5-0.
Wenger set up goals for David Horst in the sixth minute and Ricardo Clark in the 23rd. Matt Hedges was given credit on an own goal in the 13th minute.
Will Bruin added the final goal in the 85th minute to complete the rout.
New England Revolution and D.C. United played to a scoreless draw, with Lee Nguyen's right-footed shot hit the crossbar in the 55th minute the closest the game had to a breakthrough.
Elsewhere, Chris Pontius scored a brace and the Philadelphia Union beat the Columbus Crew 2-1 for its first win of the season.
