A wake-up call to Madigan and unions

It makes little sense to me to blame Gov. Rauner for the state's miserable financial position. He just got here a year ago, and he's the guy trying to fix it. Naturally, he's running into opposition from the groups who are benefiting from keeping the status quo.

He has said he'll agree to a tax increase, but first we have to change the way the state does business.

A few years ago, Illinois had its largest tax increase in history, and the result was the state falling further into debt.

The Detroit legislators failed to make reforms right up until the city went bankrupt. This should be a wake-up call to Mike Madigan and the unions.
