Melbourne City ends Adelaide's unbeaten streak in A-League
SYDNEY (AP) - Nicholas Fitzgerald scored a second-half goal Friday to give Melbourne City a 1-0 victory over Adelaide United in the A-League.
The result, which ended Adelaide's 14-match unbeaten streak, keeps United in first place with 39 points, one point more than City, the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Brisbane Roar.
The Roar will have a chance to move ahead of Adelaide with a win over the Melbourne Victory on Saturday. The Wanderers travel north to Newcastle to take on the Jets on Sunday.
Also, Sydney FC hosts Wellington and the Central Coast Mariners travel to Perth to play the Glory.
