Where Naperville plans to resurface streets

Naperville plans to resurface about 18 miles of streets in 16 subdivisions this year for an expected price tag of about $8.8 million.

The work could get the green light Tuesday if the city council approves contracts with a construction company to resurface the streets and replace deteriorated curbs and sidewalks.

One contract would pay K-Five Construction Company of Lemont $3.5 million to repave 12 of the miles, while the other deal, also with K-Five, is a $2.3 million contract covering 6 miles. Also up for approval Tuesday is spending nearly $3 million on crackfilling, patching, microsurfacing and sidewalk work.

Sections of 74 streets are included on the list to be improved this year. The streets are in subdivisions including Ashbury, Creekside, Heatherstone, Hobson Village, In-Town East, Pembroke Greens, Cotswold Estates, Brookdale, Green Ridge Estates, High Meadow, Huntington, Maplebrook, Olympic Terrace, River Run, Saybrook and Wiloway, according to Michael Pearce, city project engineer.

Work is expected to be completed between May and September, pending city council approval of the bids, which could come during its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal center at 400 S. Eagle St.

Sections of two other streets - Plank Road and Wehrli Road - are set to be resurfaced this year in projects led by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The work is expected to cost roughly $1.1 million.
