Kick off for two-year watershed plan

The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission will kick off a two-year Des Plaines River Watershed planning effort open to residents, businesses, and other local units of government Thursday, March 17. Sessions will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake County Central Permit facility, 500 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville. The watershed plan will identify practices, projects and programs to reduce pollution, flood damage and protect natural resources. The planning areas span about 235 square miles, draining from Dutch Gap in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, through North Mill Creek in northern Lake County to the confluence of Buffalo Creek and Des Plaines River in Wheeling.
