Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tried to rally her supporters last night in Vernon Hills with a focus on job creation and the need to improve the country's infrastructure. Clinton spoke about the need for job creation early in her speech to an estimated 800 in a gymnasium and another 500 in an overflow room. Driver in fatal Naperville DUI crash gets probation, work release
A Geneva man who pleaded guilty last August to charges from a 2014 fatal DUI crash in Naperville was sentenced yesterday to four years' probation and one year in a DuPage County jail work release program. Michael Szot, 22, of the 2600 block of Chatham Court, also must take monthly drug tests, wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet for three years after being released from jail, and perform 200 hours of community service by speaking to students about his experience. High levels of carbon monoxide force evacuations

Teen goes missing from Des Plaines area
Cook County sheriff's officers want the public's help in finding a teen from the Des Plaines area. Doriana Norwood, 19, was last seen about 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Harbour House in the 300 block of North East River Road in an unincorporated area near Des Plaines. Full story.
Palatine men accused of stealing car, crashing it
Two Palatine men face multiple charges after they stole a vehicle, crashed it and then fled from the scene, authorities said. On Tuesday, Palatine police responded to a crash on the 2300 block of North Hicks Road. Witnesses told police that two men fled the scene after the crash carrying a black rifle. Full story.
Carpentersville molester headed to prison
A Carpentersville man was sentenced to prison yesterday for sexually assaulting a young child he knew, the Kane County state's attorney's office said. Olibar Modesto, 50, of the 300 block of Delaware Street, agreed to a 10-year prison sentence and pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault. Full story.
