Aurora man convicted of child sex assault, faces 67 years prison
An Aurora man faces up to 67 years in prison after his conviction this week of sexually assaulting a child he knew over a four-year period.
A Kane County jury late Wednesday convicted Armando Romero-Gutierrez, 38, of the 100 block of South LaSalle Street, of two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and 16 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, all felonies.
Prosecutors presented evidence Romero-Gutierrez sexually assaulted and abused the child, who was younger than 12 at the time, between June 2010 and June 2014.
Kane County Judge Donald Tegeler will sentence Romero-Gutierrez May 20.
Romano-Gutierrez had been held at the Kane County jail on $750,000 bail since this arrest in September 2014. His bail was revoked upon conviction.
The Kane County Child Advocacy Center and Aurora police investigated the case.
