Arlington Heights

• Thieves stole a cellphone valued at $50-$60 between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m. while it was charging in the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 N. Dunton.

• Vandals slashed four tires between 1 and 9:44 p.m. March 5 on a 2001 Hyundai Elantra in a lot at the Salvation Army store, 1035 E. Rand Road. Damage was estimated at $500.

• Burglars broke a door between 3:40 and 8:30 p.m. March 5 at a home on the 2300 block of Barberry Court and stole several pieces of jewelry.

Des Plaines

•Thieves stole a purse, $200, two maroon outfits, earrings, necklace, and rings between 5:46 and 6:36 p.m. Feb. 16 out of a resident's room at Asbury Court, 1750 Elmhurst Road.

• Thieves stole a blue and black radio detection utility locating receiver between 10:30 and 10:50 a.m. Feb. 29 from a job site at Wolf Road and I-90. Value was estimated at $2,000.

• Burglars entered three unlocked vehicles between 8:30 and 9:42 p.m. March 3 at a fitness center, 1515 Lee St., and stole a wallet out of a Hummer, a toolbox with impact driver, drill and battery out of a Jeep, and ransacked a Mazda convertible, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

Elk Grove Village

• An ex-employee at El Patron Trucking Corp., 2242 Landmeier Road, leased two semitrailers but has not returned the 2009 Vanguard and 1998 Great Dane trailers. Value was estimated at $90,000.

• Burglars stole a GPS unit valued at $400 between 6 and 7 p.m. Feb. 23 out of an unlocked 2006 Honda CR-V at 960 Elk Grove Town Center.

• Burglars broke into a 2010 Ford work van between 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 and 6:15 a.m. Feb. 25 on Delphia Avenue and stole a drill, saw and duffel bag with tools. Value was estimated at $500.

• Burglars broke into a garage and home on the 1000 block of Judy Drive and stole a 2005 Acura TL out of the garage and a TV, laptop and watches out of the home between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Value was estimated at $30,000.

Mount Prospect

• Mehmedalija Tiric, 56, of the 1200 block of North Wilke Road, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 5 p.m. Feb. 17 at the police department, 112 E. Northwest Hwy., and charged with retail theft. Reports said a security agent saw him take three bottles of medication valued at $375 around 11:58 p.m. Jan. 21 from Wal-Mart in Mount Prospect Plaza, Rand and Central roads. A court date is April 1.

• Alma Nati, 43, of the 1900 block of Church Street, Park Ridge, was arrested around 7:22 p.m. Feb. 22 at Carsons, 1025 Center Drive, and charged with retail theft. Reports said a security agent saw her take clothes valued at $134.

• Burglars broke into a 2007 Ford Work van between 3 p.m. Feb. 27 and 12:45 p.m. Feb. 28 and stole tools. Loss was estimated at $1,280.

• Thieves stole a cellphone valued at $600 between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. March 1 out of a duffel bag in a gym at the RecPlex, 420 W. Dempster St. The victim left the bag on the floor while he played basketball.

Prospect Heights

• Patrick Holmes, 20, of the 8000 block of South Shore Drive, Chicago, was arrested Feb. 3 at the post office, 9 S. Elmhurst Road, and charged with forgery. Reports said he tried to use a forged check to purchase stamps.

• Amsadai Abrego-Elizalte, 27, of the 500 block of Love Drive, Prospect Heights, was arrested Feb. 22 on the 700 block of Piper Lane and charged with criminal trespass. His court date is March 10.
