Conant takes MSL title rematch against Wheeling
In a rematch of last year's Mid-Suburban League divisional champs in girls water polo, Conant came away with a 12-4 victory over host Wheeling on Wednesday.
Sam Wooley (5 goals) and Paulina Chowaniec (4) led the way for the Cougars (2-0) in scoring, and Cam Rosas came up with 10 saves in goal. Wooley also contributed 4 steals.
Argelia Diaz had a pair of goals for the Wildcats (0-1).
Elk Grove 10, Hoffman Estates 9: Lilly Lawrin helped the host Grens win for the second straight day as Elk Grove battled back from an 8-6 deficit after three quarters to pull out the victory.
Lawrin finished with 6 goals Hannah Sallenback had 2 goals and an assist for Elk Grove (2-0).
Fremd 15, Buffalo Grove 5: Emily Kini and Sarah Coombes both produced 5 goals to help power the Vikings to victory in their season opener in an MSL crossover.
Sarah Harner scored all 5 goals for Buffalo Grove (1-1).
Emma Jeronimus stopped 6 shots in goal for Fremd.
Hersey 7, Palatine 2: Sophomore Katie Lindgren scored a game-high 4 goals and Stephanie Surkin had 2 as the host Huskies won their season opener in an MSL crossover against the Pirates.
Mathilde Mogensen and Tess O'Brien had goals for Palatine (0-2).
