Union Pacific investigating malfunctioning train gates in Palatine

Representatives from the Union Pacific Railroad are on the scene in downtown Palatine where several of the train gates are malfunctioning, according to the Palatine Police Department.

Some of the gates along the Metra Union Pacific Railroad are moving up and down, while some are stuck down, blocking intersections.

The gates have been malfunctioning since about 9:30 p.m., according to the police department, and it's unclear how long any needed repairs will take.

Union Pacific arrived in Palatine to investigate the issue around 10:30 p.m., according to the police department.
