Coroner: Mom, 2 sons killed in Winnebago County crash

PECATONICA, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in northeast Illinois have identified three people killed in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 20 as members of a family from Freeport.

Winnebago County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Hintz announced Sunday that 41-year-old Delilah Cleveland, 16-year-old Darryl Cleveland and 19-year-old Jonathan White died in the crash. He said Delilah Cleveland was the mother of both Darryl Cleveland, a sophomore at Freeport High School, and Jonathan White.

The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/1QFBPyP ) reports that the vehicle in which they were traveling left the roadway, hit a guard rail and bridge abutment, and caught fire around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

A fourth passenger who was sitting in the backseat survived the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
