UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Morgan Tuck and Katie Lou Samuelson each scored 16 points and top-ranked UConn opened its postseason with a 92-51 rout of East Carolina in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic conference tournament Saturday.
Breanna Stewart added 15 points and eight rebounds to a balanced scoring attack that had five Huskies (30-0) reach double figures. The win gives the Huskies their 11th straight 30-win season and 21st in program history.
It also extends the third-longest winning streak in program and Division I women's basketball history to 67 games. The Huskies need three more to catch the UConn teams that won 70 in a row between November 2001 and March 2003.
UConn will play Tulane in the semifinals on Sunday.
Jada Payne scored 16 points and I'Tiana Taylor added 14 for East Carolina, which finishes its season at 13-19.
NO. 2 NOTRE DAME 78, NO. 21 MIAMI 67
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Brianna Turner scored 17 points and Notre Dame took over late in the third quarter to beat Miami the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference women's tournament.
Lindsay Allen added 14 points for the top-seeded Fighting Irish (30-1), including two straight baskets during that third-quarter burst. Notre Dame trailed 47-44 with about 6 1/2 minutes left in the third before pushing back in front and making six straight shots to finally stretch out the lead as the fifth-seeded Hurricanes (24-8) began to fade.
Notre Dame improved to 56-1 against ACC opponents since joining the league in the 2013-14 season and 8-0 in the tournament. The Irish will play for a third straight tournament title on Sunday.
Jessica Thomas scored 17 points for Miami.
NO. 3 SOUTH CAROLINA 93, NO. 13 KENTUCKY 63
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Tiffany Mitchell scored 20 points, leading five South Carolina players in double figures, and the Gamecocks handled Kentucky in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference women's tournament.
The top-seeded Gamecocks (30-1) advanced to their second straight SEC title game. They will face No. 16 Mississippi State in the championship game Sunday.
The Gamecocks opened up a double-digit lead in the first quarter, used an 11-0 run early in the third to make it a 20-point game and then turned it into a laugher with a barrage of 3-pointers in the fourth.
Makayla Epps led the fifth-seeded Wildcats (23-7) with 16 points.
NO. 4 BAYLOR 82, TEXAS TECH 51
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Kalani Brown scored 17 points and Kristy Wallace added 15 to help Baylor defeat Texas Tech in a Big 12 quarterfinal.
Alexis Jones scored 12 points and Alexis Prince scored all 10 of her points in the second half for the Lady Bears (31-1), who won their 18th straight.
Baylor advanced to play Oklahoma in a semifinal on Sunday.
Japreece Dean scored 17 points for Texas Tech (13-18).
NO. 5 MARYLAND 83, NORTHWESTERN 62
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Brionna Jones had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Maryland to a victory over Northwestern in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament.
Tierney Pfirman finished with 17 points and seven rebounds. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Brene Moseley each had 15 points for the Terrapins (29-3), who advance to the tournament championship game for the second year in a row since joining the conference last season. They will face No. 19 Michigan State.
Northwestern's Nia Coffey scored 31 points to set a tournament record 100 points in four games. Allie Tuttle added 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting for the Wildcats (18-16), who have lost five straight to Maryland.
NO. 6 TEXAS 66, KANSAS 50
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Celina Rodrigo scored 13 points to help Texas hold off upstart Kansas in the Big 12 quarterfinals.
Ariel Atkins scored 11 points and Brooke McCarty added 10 for the Longhorns (27-3), who were coming off a loss to Baylor in the regular-season finale that cost them a share of the conference regular-season title.
The Jayhawks stayed close for much of Saturday's game. Lauren Aldridge scored 12 points and Aisia Robertson added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Jayhawks (6-25), seeded 10th in a 10-team league.
The Longhorns advanced to the semifinals against No. 22 West Virginia on Sunday.
NO. 17 SYRACUSE 80, NO. 7 LOUISVILLE 75
GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - Cornelia Fondren matched her career high of 18 points and hit two critical free throws with 18.1 seconds left to help Syracuse beat Louisville 80-75 in the semifinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.
Alexis Peterson scored 19 points to lead the third-seeded Orange (25-6), who outlasted the second-seeded Cardinals (25-7) in a tight finish to earn their first trip to the ACC title game and a date with No. 2 Notre Dame on Sunday.
Fondren, a 5-foot-8 senior averaging 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds off the bench, also set a career high with 13 rebounds.
NO. 8 OREGON STATE 57, WASHINGTON 55
SEATTLE (AP) - Pac-12 player of the year Jamie Weisner scored 20 points, Sydney Wiese added 16 and No. 8 Oregon State survived a late rally to beat Washington in the conference tournament semifinals.
The Beavers (27-4) will play No. 12 UCLA in the tournament title game on Sunday. It's the second appearance in the tournament final for Oregon State after losing to USC in the 2014 championship game.
Weisner was the only one that could hit shots in the second half after a dynamic first half for both teams. Weisner hit 4 of 6 shots in the second half and Oregon State held on despite going scoreless the final 6:15 of the game.
Chantel Osahor led Washington (22-10) with 18 points. Kelsey Plum, the Pac-12 scoring leader, was held to a season-low 14 points and missed a runner in the lane at the buzzer that could have forced overtime.
NO. 19 MICHIGAN STATE 82, NO. 9 OHIO STATE 63
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Aerial Powers scored 31 points and Tori Jankoska added 23 to help Michigan State rout Ohio State in the second Big Ten tournament semifinal.
The Spartans (24-7) won their sixth straight game and will face No. 5 Maryland in Sunday's title game. Michigan State won its only conference tourney title in 2005.
Ohio State (24-7) was led by Kelsey Mitchell with 20 points and Shayla Cooper with 16 but lost for the third time in four games - and endured its most lopsided loss this season.
NO. 12 UCLA 73, CALIFORNIA 67, OT
SEATTLE (AP) - Jordin Canada scored eight of her 26 points in overtime, Monique Billings added 22 points, and UCLA shook California in the extra session for a win in the Pac-12 semifinals.
Kari Korver's 3-pointer with 7 seconds left in regulation helped force overtime, but she missed the free throw on the potential four-point play that could have given UCLA the lead. Asha Thomas' 3-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed off for California.
Pac-12 freshman of the year Kristine Anigwe led California (15-17) with 26 points and 15 rebounds.
UCLA advanced to the tournament final and will face No. 8 Oregon State on Sunday.
NO. 16 MISSISSIPPI STATE 58, TENNESSEE 48
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Victoria Vivians scored 30 points, her most since mid-December, and Mississippi State beat Tennessee in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament.
The Bulldogs (26-6) won their fifth in a row and advanced to the title game against top-seeded and league unbeaten South Carolina.
Diamond DeShields led Tennessee with 22 points on 8-of-20 shooting.
NO. 20 SOUTH FLORIDA 73, SMU 60
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Courtney Williams scored 29 points and South Florida eliminated SMU from the American Athletic Conference tournament.
Second-seeded USF (22-8) will be in in the semifinals on Sunday.
South Florida (22-8) got up big early and SMU rallied a bit in the second half, but got no closer than 10 points.
Morgan Bolton led SMU (13-18) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
NO. 22 WEST VIRGINIA 74, KANSAS STATE 65
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Tynice Martin had 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and Jessica Morton scored 13 of her 16 in the second half to help West Virginia beat Kansas State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament.
The third-seeded Mountaineers will take on No. 2 seed and sixth-ranked Texas (26-2) in the semifinals Sunday.
Megan Deines led sixth-seeded Kansas State with 22 points. Breanna Lewis scored 14, and Weseman added 13 with 10 rebounds.
NO. 24 OKLAHOMA 61, OKLAHOMA STATE 43
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Vionise Pierre-Louis scored 16 points with a career-high 15 rebounds for her first double-double and Oklahoma pulled away in the second half to defeat Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.
Derica Wyatt hit all five of her shots, including three 3-pointers, for 13 points.
Oklahoma (21-9) led by four at the half but after the fourth-seeded Cowgirls (21-9) tied the game with a pair of free throws by Brittney Martin, Gioya Carter had five of her 11 points in a 10-0 run that put the Sooners up 36-26. The lead remained at 10 entering the fourth quarter.
Martin had 17 points for the Cowgirls. Oklahoma plays Baylor in a semifinal on Sunday.
