No. 20 USF women beat Temple 64-46 in American semifinals

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Courtney Williams scored 20 of her 22 points in the second half, Shalethia Stringfield finished with 20 points and a career-high 13 rebounds and No. 20 South Florida beat sixth-seeded Temple 64-46, setting up a rematch of last season's American Athletic Conference championship game with No. 1 UConn.

USF, which will play the Huskies (31-0) on Monday night, closed out Temple on a 33-9 run.

Temple opened the second half on an 11-2 run for a 37-31 lead but South Florida ended the quarter on a 14-2 run, with 13 combined from Williams and Stringfield, for a 45-39 lead.

Williams hit an open 3-pointer from the wing with 6:39 left, beat the shot clock on a free-throw line jumper and South Florida started the fourth on a 15-2 run for a 60-41 lead.

Alisia Jenkins recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds for South Florida (23-8).

Tanaya Atkinson led Temple (20-11) with 17 points.
