Two seriously injured after car strikes tree in Lindenhurst

Two people are in the hospital with serious injuries after their car struck a tree early Saturday morning in Lindenhurst, authorities said.
Police said the one-vehicle crash took place just after 3 a.m. on the 1500 block of Grand Avenue in front of the Butera grocery store. The car was eastbound on Grand when it left the roadway and struck a tree, according to a news release.
The two occupants of the vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Lindenhurst Police Department and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the accident, and ask those with additional information to contact them at (847) 356-5400.
