Lake Zurich Sears Hardware closing; new tenant on tap

Sears Appliance & Hardware store at 832 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich is expected to close by April 27 and has started liquidation sales.

The longtime hardware store told the property owner about a month ago that it would close. Another business is expected to lease the spot soon. But property owner John Sfire declined to disclose the new tenant.

"We have a number of prospective companies that are interested in filling that space," Sfire said. "I've been very bullish on 2016."

Sears Appliance & Hardware Stores are a part of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc., which is no longer associated with Hoffman Estates-based Sears Holdings Corp. They spun off from Sears Holdings in 2012.

A Sears Hardware spokeswoman would not immediately respond.
