New group hosting fundraiser in South Barrington for kids in need
Women's Hearts for Healing, a volunteer group that supports the Children's Advocacy Center in Hoffman Estates, will host a "paint and sip" fundraiser this weekend.
Anita Myers, president of Women's Hearts for Healing, said the group started last year to support the center's important mission providing free care for children who are sexually and/or physically abused.
Myers said she hadn't heard about the center before she was asked to get involved, and believes she's not alone in that regard.
"I'd never heard of them and some people I've spoke with since then that live in Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates just a couple of blocks away hadn't heard of them," Myers said.
Since starting last year, Women's Hearts for Healing, which has 40 volunteer members, has provided the funding, brains and muscle to renovate a spare room in the Children Advocacy Center's Hoffman Estates facility into a usable, organized support room.
The group will hold a fundraiser at Pinot's Palette in South Barrington on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Myers said $10 of the $38 fee will be donated to the group.
