Wauconda wins 3rd straight

Wauconda's boys basketball team, seeded No. 11 in the Class 3A Ridgewood sectional, stayed alive in the postseason by knocking off a No. 6 seed Tuesday.

Kyle Drobnik had 16 points and 9 rebounds, as the Bulldogs topped Clemente 65-61 in the second game of the night in regional semifinal play at St. Patrick. In the first game, No. 2 seed St. Patrick rolled past Chicago Sullivan 78-37.

Wauconda (11-15) has won three straight and six of its last 9. The Bulldogs will face St. Patrick in a 7 p.m. Friday regional championship matchup.

Bryan Nee added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for Wauconda.

The Bulldogs' other contributors included Jarod Stonis (11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists), Dylan Latiolais (10 points) and Danny Stanley (10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals).
