Des Plaines man guilty of illegal gun possession

A 22-year-old Des Plaines man was sentenced to four years in prison Monday for unlawfully possessing two handguns, court records show.
Xavier Virto pleaded guilty to felony firearm possession by a gang member, records show.
He was arrested last September after the car in which he was riding was pulled over for speeding, police said.
During the traffic stop, police noticed six people, none of them wearing seat belts, crammed into the back seat. Police reported they asked the occupants to get out of the car and conducted a search, during which they discovered Virto had two handguns in his waistband.
Virto received credit for 162 days in custody.
