McConnell shows Republicans' hypocrisy

With the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, President Barack Obama has the constitutionally mandated task of nominating his successor. Senate Majority Leader Republican Mitch McConnell, has said that the president should not nominate Scalia's successor, but instead should let the next president make the nomination, "allowing the American people to be heard."

The American people did speak in 2008 and again in 2012 when they voted for Barack Obama to be president of the United States.

He is president until his successor is sworn in on Jan. 20, 2017. Barack Obama is the president of the United States and has a responsibility to carry out his constitutionally mandated duties.

He should not be obstructed by those with purely political and ideological motives. McConnell's stand puts on display the hypocrisy of those conservatives who claim to believe in "strict interpretation" of our Constitution.
