Snow keeps several roads in northwestern Indiana closed
HEBRON, Ind. (AP) - Several roads in northwestern Indiana remain closed as crews continue working to clear the up to 15 inches of snow that fell in the area.
Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Doug Moats says Indiana 8 between Hebron and Kouts in Porter County, U.S. 24, between U.S. 41 in Newton County and U.S. 231 in White County and State Road 114, west of Rensselaer, remain closed Friday while crews work to push back the heavy snowpack.
Moats says while many of the roads are passable, they are narrow or down to one lane.
INDOT also is asking drivers to plan an alternate route to avoid east-west running rural secondary roads. He says crews will work all day and overnight to improve those routes.
