New OTB space opens at Prospect Heights bar

A new off-track betting facility associated with Hawthorne Race Course opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Player's Pub & Grill in Prospect Heights.

The 2,400-square-foot space at 1250 S. River Road features 52 flat screen TVs that will broadcast horse races from around the world, alongside dozens of self-service wagering terminals that can connect directly with accounts on players cellphones, according to a news release.

Prospect Heights Mayor Nick Helmer and officials from Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney attended a grand opening Friday.
