Paint Your Pet Event Supports Barb's Precious Rescue
On Sunday, February 21st, supporters of Barb's Precious Rescue and Adoption Center (BPRAC), Palatine, gathered for a "Paint Your Pet" Fundraising Event at Bottle & Bottega, Art Uncorked, in Arlington Heights.
The venue was crowded with over 45 supporters in attendance. The afternoon began with a forty-five minute time period to enjoy some socializing, a selection of appetizers, and a glass of wine. During this time guests were encouraged to view the many silent auction items, most of which had an appropriate pet theme to them. Raffle tickets were also available for those wishing to dig even a little deeper into their pockets and pocketbooks.
The event was organized by shelter volunteer, Louise Basgall. Items for the silent auction and raffle were donated by: Mary Ann Hetreed, Arlington Heights; and local businesses: Vignettes of Arlington, Inc., Arlington Heights, and Orawan Well Being Spa, Palatine.
Many guests brought photos of the pet they wished to paint. Others just pulled up recent photos on their cell phones. There was plenty of artistic help on site to assist the artists in training with their masterpieces.
Barb's Precious Rescue founder, Barb Weber, was also on hand for the event. She provided the guests an update on the rescue. She was pleased to report that BPRAC has found permanent homes for 235 cats since its founding one and one-half years ago.
