Sugar Grove crash injures three

Three people were taken to hospitals after a four-vehicle crash in Sugar Grove Thursday afternoon, including one patient who was airlifted in critical condition, fire officials said.

The crash happened about 4:10 p.m. just south of Route 47 and Cross Street, Sugar Grove Battalion Chief Josh Lopez said. One person was cut from a vehicle and then flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with critical injuries, He said.

Two other people were taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora with nonlife-threatening injuries. Two other people were treated on the scene and released, he said.

All of Route 47 was closed between Cross and Prairie but reopened by 6 p.m., he said.
