Registration open for Des Plaines Citizen's Police Academy
Registration is now underway for the Des Plaines Police Department's 2016 Citizen's Police Academy, which begins March 22.
Citizens can learn firsthand about police culture, SWAT. units, negotiations, traffic stops, crime scene investigation, evidence collection and Homeland Security.
Classes are every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., through May 24. Most classes will be held at the Des Plaines police station, with two classes at the public works facility.
