Latino citizens police academy

Residents interested in learning more about the Mundelein Police Department and how it operates are invited to participate in its Latino Citizens' Police Academy starting Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m. Classes are Thursdays for 10 weeks, with a graduation ceremony May 5. Classes will be in the police station, 221 North Lake St., Mundelein. The program provides an opportunity for citizens, who live and/or work in or near the village and are ages 18 to 55, to become familiar with the department's day-to-day operations. It will explain and demonstrate various aspects of the police profession, and will include educational topics related to laws that pertain to the immigrant population. This program will be predominantly in Spanish. For information, contact Cmdr. Fred Kliora at (847) 968-3772 or fkliora@mundelein.org.
