Furman shakes up football assistant responsibilities
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Furman football coach Bruce Fowler is shaking up the responsibilities of some assistant coaches.
Fowler said Wednesday that assistant defensive line coach Ricky Spradling will become Paladins running backs coach. Defensive quality control staffer D.J. Bryant will take over Spradling's role. Wide receivers coach Brian Bratton will take on special teams' duties to go along with his current job.
Last week, the Paladins hired Ramal Faunteroy as defensive line coach to take over for Jimmy Lindsey, who left last month for an assistant's spot at Georgia Southern.
The Paladins play in the Southern Conference of the Football Championship Subdivision. They finished 4-7 last fall, losing five of their final six games.
